Real name (first name is enough): Tom Shackell
Nickname: Tomsk
InGame name: Tomsk
Age: 33
Location/Country: UK
How much time do you spend playing WT in an average week? 2 or 3 evenings
Level of skill and experience:
Fairly new to WW2 combat sims, but been flying flight sims (offline) for years. Mostly Falcon 4, LOMAC etc. Have also recently been enjoying DCS P-51 as a pure flight sim (not much combat in it except against the AI). As such I have all the equipment (pedals, head tracking, headset, FFB joystick) and I'm very comfortable with plane handling, procedures, take-offs and landings and such like (they are much easier in WT than DCS P-51D!).
How could you contribute to our community?
- Really interested in working as part of a team, love that close coordination and teamwork.
- Very happy and comfortable teaching what I know to others (even if it's a bit limited currently).
- Professional software developer: good technical IT knowledge.
Your strong points:
- Enthusiastic learner, with a long standing interest in all things aircraft related.
- Good basic flying skills.
- Flexible, easy going personality - can both lead and follow.
- native English speaker.
Your weak points:
- Limited experience with WW2 combat.
- Not many nations unlocked in WT (US & Germany Tier III, UK Tier II, others hardly played)
- Never been in a squadron before.
What modes do you play (Air Arcade, Ground Simulator ...): Simulator Air Battles exclusively
Favorite nation in WT: Germany and US - I play them about equally currently.
Favorite role (Fighter, Ground Attack, Tank ...):
Fighter, mostly air superiority but can also enjoy CAS.
I'm particularly fond of the FW 190, the Bf 109, P-47 and P-51.
How did you hear about us? War Thunder squadrons forum
Additional informations:
I watched some of your videos on youtube and I was really impressed with both the coordination of the group, and also the friendly atmosphere.
Also play (or would be interested in playing) IL2 BoS and DCS. Also enjoy some realistic squad based FPS games.
